Project Vision
Kangarootime is an app offering an exhaustive childcare platform that simplifies billing, parent engagement, reporting, enrollment, and more.
Problem Statement
The goal is to design an accessible app that guardians can use to simplify the child enrollment process, billing for services, engagement with childcare staff, and more.
We needed to create an accessible way for guardians to get their children signed up and enrolled in childcare services as quickly and efficiently as possible.
"Guardians want services that allow them to get their children the care they need without the hassle."
Users & Audience
Based on user data, this project was primarily targeted toward individuals in the 18-34 age group who have children between ages 18 months old to 12 years old.
Roles & Responsibilities
I was one of the project researchers and the lead writer. However, the project was completed with the continuous feedback of a small focus group that represented most of the individuals surveyed and tested.
Project Hurdles
A hurdle I faced in working on this project was the budget that was set aside for the project at hand. Because this was for a small startup, the lack of a financial failsafe forced me to think outside of the box and make use of my time and available resources wisely was not a crippling factor for me. However, the amount of time that was given to complete this project was particularly eye-opening.
Process
The process of writing and researching for the app was a smooth ride. Studies involving our user's motivations, desires, needs, behaviors, and wants were collected to inform the verbiage used throughout the application and the design as well. After a working prototype was established, more research was conducted, including the use of focus groups, surveys, card sorting, and, of course, user testing.
Results & Key Takeaways
The outcome is a simple yet effective app that allows the users to save time with effective and efficient ways to find childcare services. I learned how to do more with less regarding the company's budget. The process allowed me to think outside the box while putting the users forward without cutting corners during the research and writing process.
